What to and what not to expect in Ladakh?
Do not expect luxury hotels, sky scrapers, night clubs, Adult spots and modern amenities. Ladakh is different unlike other hill stations in India like Shimla, Ooti or Manali where greenery is all over. Ladakh is simply a “Cold Dessert” with inhospitable rocky necked mountains and that is the beauty of it.
What to expect from hotels in Ladakh?
Ladakhi hotels are kept and maintained in view of the European tourist who doesn’t like TV’s, Clubs and modern amenities of these kind in adventure area like Ladakh. The best available hotels are “A” category ones and they only have the basic amenities. Rooms are clean and the meals are superb. All rooms are attached bath with running water. Do not expect 24 hr. room service all the meals are served in the common dinning all in fixed time.

What souvenirs can we buy in Ladakh?
In Leh you can buy Pashmina Shawl, Handicraft Items such as Tibetan or Kahsmiri carpets, wall paintings, wooden masks, Ladakhi wooden table carved and painted, wooden dragons for wall hangings etc. You may also want to buy Tibetan and Ladakhi artifacts from the Tibetan market or antique shops. One can buy local apricot Jam or dry apricots. You can bargain in shopping up to 20% depending on the item and the shop. It is not advisable to buy electronic items as they are more cheaper in Delhi.

STD facilities available all the hotels. STD booths in town. Internet may not be reliable.

Dos and Don’ts in public?
It is rude to Kiss, hold the opposite sex in Ladakh. It is advised not to wear revealing dresses.
Dos and Don’ts in monasteries?
In some monasteries women are not allowed after sunset and before sunrise.
No smoking is allowed (not even bringing cigarettes packets) in the monastery.
Alcohol and non-veg. Food are strictly prohibited.
Do not enter in sleeveless shirts and Pants.
Always remove your shoes out side the temple.
